I just received the final numbers from yesterday’s Democratic Caucus for the 37th District:

There were 854 delegates seated yesterday stemming from the Feb. 9 Precinct Caucuses. The allocation was 823 delegates for the 7th Congressional District and 31 delegates for the 9th Congressional District.

The 7th Congressional District breakdown was:
Clinton: 139
Obama: 684

By now you should have received your call to the caucus in the mail. If you haven’t received your packet yet, you can download one here.

Here are some of the basic details for the day:

Please carpool as parking is very limited. Enter at N.E. entrance, S Lucille St. & 15th Ave., S

Registration starts at 9 a.m.  Call to order is at 10 a.m.

The requested registration fee is $15. The fee is to help cover costs, but it is not required in order to attend. It’s suggested you bring a sack lunch although eating/drinking aren’t allowed in the gym.
You must sign in by 10:45 a.m. or an alternate will be seated in your place.

This caucus is for all delegates elected on Feb. 9, 2008 at the Democratic Precinct Caucuses of the 37th Legislative District. The Credentials Committee will seat qualified elected alternates in place of delegates who are absent.

The principal business is the election of delegates and alternates to the 7th & 9th Congressional District Caucuses to be held Saturday, May 17.

Delegates will be allocated to Presidential candidates based on the stated preferences of the delegates in attendance, similar to the process at the precinct caucuses. There will be a total of 47 delegates and 24 alternates elected.

UPDATE: We may need to change the location due to space constraints. Please keep checking back here for updates. Also the start time has been moved to 9 a.m.

The event could last some time so we recommend bringing along some food, water and a positive attitude.
The delegate cards you were given at the Precinct Caucuses won’t be necessary (but will be handy!) as we’ll be checking the names against the list of selected delegates.

Next steps in the process are:

• Sunday, April 13 – King County Convention
• Saturday, May 17 – Congressional District Convention
• Saturday, June 14 – Washington State Convention
• Monday, August 25-28 – National Convention in Denver

Here are the results from the 37th:

Delegates for Barack Obama: 747
Delegates for Hillary Clinton: 168
Delegates for Uncommitted: 3

We had more than 12,000 people attend these caucuses, far more than even our highest estimates. We also raised more than $18,000 for the 37th District!

This was a great event and will really help propel us into the 2008 election season!
